    What to do..?

I’ve been constantly going over what I should do with my money pretty recently.

It was either get a new camera lens at first, build a new computer, or buy another SB-600 and some random photo equipment for some off camera lighting.

Time for a list of advantages of each option (I’ll probably add more and cross out a few as I think things over):

    • Camera lens (most likely a wideangle):
      • Insane fun
      • New ways to experiment in photography
      • Hilarious portraits and random fun with friends
      • Less time on computer
      • Another lens into my sweet, sweet collection

    • Computer:
      • Insane fun
      • WAY WAY faster
      • More animations + videos
      • Amazing looking games :)
      • Won’t have to depend on laptop as much because this P.O.S can barely handle RAW files
      • Won’t have to worry about upgrading for a long while

    • Camera gear (a noncrappy tripod, new flash, radio triggers, umbrellas/stands for flashes:
      • Insane awesome fun
      • Annoy friends setting up gear to take pictures
Some boredom, so I edited this photo of mine: www.flickr.com/photos/blacktempest07/2675964545/I’m trying to get a certain look but missed here, highlighted skin is too smooth and lost detail looked better in PS though…hmm

    Next set of camera gear

Well I’ve been looking at getting some new camera gear and I’m planning on purchasing a SB-600 within the next week. My birthday is coming up as well and I’ve been going over the idea of what to get. At first I was thinking about the Sigma 10-20mm, however, I think it might be a bit too wide for what I have in mind. I’ve been a bit inspired by Julia Fullerton-Batten, a great photographer that has won countless awards. Link to her page below:

    http://www.juliafullerton-batten.com/

My current lineup of choices ranges from the Nikon 20mm F/2.8Nikon 24mm F/2.8, Nikon 28mm F/2.8, Nikon 35mm F/2, Tamron 17-50mm F/2.8,  and Sigma 30mm F/1.4. Of course this is just a quick look though. I still need to check out comparisons. Right now the 20mm looks a bit too wide, but I’m not sure yet (it’s also pricey).

The Sigma 30mm looked amazingly sharp at 1.4, something I noticed being a problem when I have my 50mm at 1.8. Some faults though is the build of it. I hear lots of things about it having a front focus problem. Another problem is paint chipping, something that is ridiculous for the amount of money you pay.

I’m crossing these off as I look over info. I’m seriously looking at the Tamron 17-50mm F/2.8 now. It’s in the price range of the Sigma 10-20mm but it’s amazing according to LOTS of reviews

More to update as I check over upcoming weeks
