    Flickring

    Nikon D60. Vacation. Sculpting status.

I changed my mind from Canon to Nikon for a couple of reasons. My friend is getting a  Nikon and being able to share lenses will be nice. I also have a couple of friends who also use Nikon, so it will be an advantage there. Plus!! It’s cheaper and I can get a lot more accessories right off the bat.

I’m planning on buying Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF with it just for the stellar quality and amazing low-light performance. I would have to manually focus with this lens on my D60, but down the road when I get a camera with a built in focusing motor, this will automatically be taken care of.

It seems like the D80 might get a replacement from the way things seem to be going. So later on I can sell my D60 for a newer upgrade (when I feel I’m ready for a step up).

I’m planning on purchasing the SB-600 flash as well in about a week. I leave for Florida June 25 I believe. It will be nice taking my camera for a full test ride down there. We will be driving to a beach house as well while down there to meet up with my Uncle, his wife, their new baby, and probably their 2 huge dogs).

After this past 2 hellish weeks dealing with PayPal and UPS, I’m just about done with selling stuff online. Thankgod they didn’t free my $600+ for 7 months.

Anywho, I haven’t been sculpting as virgorously in the past few days. I’ve been working on a realistic female head sculpt, but that is the hardest thing to do. Ever. With males or more organic creatures the features are much more blocky and can be exaggerated. With a female face or body, everything is subtle and the slightest imperfection takes out the realism. I think though if I exaggerate the female facial features enough, I can get the more realistic areas down better.
